Alkaline Wash Treament

Frequently Asked Questions

What will I expect from your Alkaline Hair Removal Treatment?
At your first consultation with your therapist you talk through your expectations and will be told exactly what the treatment will involve. A medical history will be taken by the therapist to ensure that there are no reasons why you shouldn’t have the treatment. After this we have consent form to sign indicating that you have understood the potential benefits and risks associated with the procedure recommended. Photographs may also be taken, for use as a “before and after” comparison at a later date.

What is the Procedure?
A patch test is carried out first on the area to be treated, which ensures that your skin is suitable for the Alkaline Wash treatment.
The Alkaline powder is mixed into a paste and then applied onto the skin where there is hair to be treated. The 'paste' is left on for approximately 4-5 minutes before being removed.

Is Alkaline Wash bad for my skin?
No, Alkaline Wash is used in many of our skin revision systems and it not bad for the skin. We always finish the treatment with the appropriate products to restore optimal skin health.

Will my hair grow back thicker or darker?
It is unlikely for your hair to grow back thicker or darker as the DMK hair removal solution weakens and eventually reduces the hair growth.

How often will I need this done?
When you first start, you will have a treatment as often as you would wax the area. As the hair growth weakens, your treatments will become further and further apart. These treatments are progressive

Are there any side effects?
The treatment is pain free, however in some cases, usually after the initial treatment before the skin has adjusted to alkaline, you may experience some redness or dryness. You may even have some superficial scabs, although this is when the hair is very coarse and the alkaline wash solution may need to be left on the skin for longer. As long as you do not scratch or pick the scabs, they should heal given normal conditions. As with any product applied topically, there may be small percentages of people in the population that may experience an adverse reaction.

Can other areas of the body be treated?
Alkaline Hair Removal Wash is also an amazing treatment for the treatment of Folliculitis on the body and almost any area can be treated and is especially popular for male clients on the back and chest.
